The hospital released him. His responsibilities never did.
Anthony Schulz, known as Box Truck Ant, survived an accident involving two semi-trucks that nearly took his life. He suffered broken wrists, other broken bones, a brain injury, and bruising throughout his body.
For an hour, Anthony waited for help beneath a bridge in New York, bleeding from his head. He survived, but the struggle to recover and keep providing for his son was just beginning.
Afterward, he discovered he didn’t have the medical or workers’ compensation protection he believed he had arranged and was paying for.
A single father who had lost much of his family, Anthony had little support to fall back on. His son depended on him. The bills kept coming. He couldn’t afford the recovery time he needed.
Chapter 02
Left to handle the aftermath alone.
The injuries were only part of what Anthony faced. After the accident, he was left to handle everything himself without the help he needed from his insurance brokers. He also couldn’t get in contact with the insurance carrier.
His truck was totaled. Although it could still move, it barely drove, and major components were damaged. Still recovering from his injuries and under financial pressure, Anthony delivered the two loads that were already on the truck.
He then had to absorb the loss of the truck and start over.

Waiting on certificates of insurance cost him tens of thousands of dollars in lost opportunities and revenue. Years of work were disrupted. He watched drivers and mentees face similar setbacks and knew he wasn’t alone.
